It’s a pretty stinkin’ good week for those of us who have an unhealthy relationship with TV. This past weekend was the 67th Emmy Awards and today is the first day of fall, which means the return of our beloved television shows!!! How did we ever survive the summer without them?! Oh yeah that’s right, Netflix, Hulu, HBOGO and Amazon… 😉
Although I am PUMPED some of my favorite shows are starting back up, there are a lot of shows I wish were gracing my television screen this fall. So I thought I would take a trip down TV memory lane!!! Some of these shows ended long long long ago and others ended earlier this year, but they are all still greatly missed (if only by me 😉 ). So today I’m sharing with y’all 10 shows I still (and always will) LOVE!!! Here’s hoping for a cheesy reunion episode!!
I mean howwwww could this list not include FRIENDS!!! Especially considering this show inspired my blog name and the name of every single post (in case you do not know, every FRIENDS episode title starts with “The One With…” or “The One Where”, just like my post titles 🙂 ) This show is just one of the best. I can’t even tell you how many times I have seen all 236 episodes. And now thanks to Netflix, if I don’t catch one of the EIGHT times it is on re-runs during the day, I can just pick any ole episode and start marathoning away. And I LOVE IT!!!
2. Full House
Even with all the cheesiness, I still love Full House. I grew up on this show, and honestly I don’t know if I learned more from Full House or Boy Meets World!!! Whether it was DJ just saying no at the school dance or one of Michelle and Uncle Jesse’s classic chats, Full House was always there with just the right amount of life lessons and laughter. Let’s hope the new Fuller House has just the right amount as well!!
3. Parks and Recreation
A recently ended show, but it’s already one of my all time favs. I already miss Ron, Tom, Ben, Donna, April, Andy and Jerry/Terry/Larry. But I miss Leslie the most. I owe a lot to Leslie Knope. She taught me to be fearless. Fearless in friendships, fearless in her career, and fearless in organization (we all remember those binders). But I think the most important thing I learned from Les was to passionately chase after your dream, because it is OK to fail. And if you do fail? That’s what friends and waffles are for 🙂
Ohhhhhhhh Cheers. What an absolutely perfect show. There’s nothing I appreciate more in the television world than a simple idea, executed flawlessly. And that’s what Cheers is. A simple story of a man who runs a bar and the people who visit it. Nothing fancy. In fact the entire first seasons just took place in the bar!! Give me another show that can use 1 set for 22 episodes and still be creative and hilarious with each episode, I dare ya! There’s a reason Cheers is one of the top rated shows of all time. Just ask any one of the 80 MILLION PEOPLE who watched the series finale.
Unlike Cheers, this show is one of the more forgotten gems, though I can’t for the life of me understand why. Like I mentioned in the past this show has e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g. Action, comedy, spy-drama, romance, adventure, and heart. This is one of the few shows I know that can entertain an entire family because there is literally something for everybody. I can’t say enough good things about this show, so I think I’m just going to re-watch it instead 🙂
Get out your kleenex kids, because this show will hit ya right in the feels. With so many wonderfully real characters this show is all about family. 17 family members to be exact. From the grandparents to their 4 kids and their spouses and alllllll their children, there is literally never a dull moment. This show will make you want to hug everyone in your family and apologize to your sister for stealing her hairdryer in high school.
7. The Office
This show is amazing. It’s just about people who work a freakishly boring office job. And yet every episode is entertaining. From ridiculous pranks, holiday parties, and marathons run for Rabies, this show is anything but boring. There is just so much goodness within the walls of Dunder Mifflin Paper Company y’all. Jim and Pam are the couple you wish you could be and Michael Scott is the boss you wish your best friend had so you could hear all the crazy stories but not actually have to work for 😉
8. The West Wing
I LOVE THIS SHOW. I love it I love it I love it I love it. Even as someone who could care less about politics (much less understand it), this show is one of the all time greats. I’ve always loved anything “behind-the-scenes” and anything historical, so it’s easy to see why this show is my obsession. Every character, every story, every walk and talk is nothing short of perfect. President Bartlet and Charlie? Heartwarming. Donna and Josh? Cutest rapport. C.J. Cregg? The best one.
9. Friday Night Lights
As a life long Texas girl and football fanatic, re-watching this show is my only remedy when I start missing my home. But you don’t have to be from Texas or even know a thing about football to fall in love with this show. Like I said before this show is all about heart. When you want to be wrapped in warm blanket this is the show to watch. Plus now that it’s finally fall, this is the perfect time to fall in love with Coach Taylor all over again 🙂
10. Gilmore Girls
A tried and true classic for this gal. Gilmore Girls is always my go-to DVD when I move to a new place and have no cable. And every time I do I fall right back in love with the quirkiest of small towns, quick witted dialogue, and the quintessential mother-daughter gal pals. This show means so much to me and has shaped me more than even I realize. Mark my words, someday I will end up in a small town, as an inn owner, married to the guy who runs the diner. It’s going to happen y’all. I’m sure of it 🙂
What are some of the shows you wish were back on the small screen this fall??
