Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!! How you doin/hiya/whassuuuuuup/howdy/hello there!!!!!!
Oh my goodness oh my goodness I am so excited to finally share this news with you!! After almost 2 years of aimlessly blogging over at theonewhereimovetocalifornia.weebly.com I’ve reimagined, revamped, redesigned & rediscovered!! I’m so happy to welcome you to the new “The One Where I Move To California”.
Y’all I have taken the plunge and decided to get more serious about this blog thing. And by serious I really just mean focusing more on my passions and sharing them with the world (wide web).
After going through a pretty hefty blogging drought, I took several months to really examine why I was doing this in the first place. Blogging started out half as a way for me to fill my family and friends in on things I was doing after I moved across the country to California and half as a way to battle the ups and downs that was unemployment in a space that allowed more than 140 characters.
But it quickly grew into a beautiful addition to my life that allowed me to rediscover my love of photography, adventure, humans, little things, and everyday inspirations. It also was a place where I could ramble on and on, misspelling after misspelling, and no one could stop me (…weebly didn’t have spell check). But for various behind-the-scenes reasons, blogging became a chore and something I enjoyed less and less. I found that I was writing things I thought my “audience” wanted to read and not things I wanted to write. I stopped adventuring and creating for the purpose of happiness and friendships and started experiencing things just to get better SEO and pinnable images. It freaked me out. It was weird for long-lost friends and random acquaintances to tell me they read my blog. And it felt even weirder to call myself a blogger.
So I didn’t.
And I still don’t.
I call myself Katie. A normal girl who likes a lot of things and wants a way to remember them all and share them with others. A girl who can spot an adventure both a mile away and right under her nose. A girl who probably won’t publish a recipe post because she’s too busy scarfing down VitaGummies on the way to In-n-Out (for the third time that week). A girl who feels pretty uncomfortable in front of the camera but is ever-so-slowly getting better. A girl who binge watches pretty much everything that has or will ever be on Netflix because that’s how this INFP rolls. A girl who could if she would spend all her days crafting and doodling while listening to Hall & Oates, Hootie and the Blowfish, T-Swift, The Beatles, Stevie Wonder, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Fleetwood Mac, the Disney Pandora station or Nelly.
I really can’t explain that last one… ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I’m just a person who thinks there are enough bad/mad/sad things going on in the world that I can’t control. But what I can control is trying my best to live a happy life and to put a smile on the face of a stranger. That’s really the only goal here. I’m trying to bottle up happiness in the form of blog posts and throw it out into this great big ocean we call an internet. I can’t promise much, but I can promise that this site will always be here (mainly because nothing is ever really off the internet) for whenever you need something to brighten your day, satisfy your wanderlust, or just to let you know you’re not the only one who finds a weird comfort sitting alone in the car eating Taco Bell.
Y’all, life is 90% perspective and 10% pancakes. That’s my personal motto and the motto I am bringing to this blog. With an open mind and a positive attitude I am adventuring, creating and rambling. I am filling my life with people, places and things that ooze happiness. And I hope that’s what you find every time you stop by my little slice of the interwebs.
If you are new here, welcome!! If you are a fan coming over from the weebly blog, welcome back!! If you are my grandparents, love you, miss you, hope you can understand the new layout!!
